Trevor Leat and Alex Rigg create and build sculptural objects using natural materials.

The combination of willow-weaving techniques and construction using timber and steel creates a sense of scale and solidity.

The sculptural qualities of the materials are used in combination with bold, figurative design to give a strong presence to each individual piece.

Edinburgh Hogmanay 2008

These images are from Carlton hill in Edinburgh and are sculptures made for Unique Events as part of the Edinburgh Hogmanay celebrations.

Our work often involves fire and is used for major public festivals and events.

LEATRIGG FURNITURE

• The willow that we use is grown by Trevor in Galloway.

• The willow is harvested in the winter and stacked to season.

• Oak and elm are the main timbers that we use.

• Much of our timber is from Scottish sources and all is from sustainable forestry.

• The timber is tied together using natural fibre rope; a technique with its roots in a maritime tradition.

• The finished seat is treated with raw linseed oil.

• The woven structure will age and weather naturally and can last for many years if properly cared for.
